Trauma and Abuse

Trauma and Abuse
What's the difference?
Life is hard. Sometimes overwhelmingly hard. When it is, everything we have ever known can become lost. What we once knew looks different, feels different, talks different. Uncertain as to how to move, many times we stand still...afraid and motionless, unable to shift, gesture or even speak. This is trauma.
At its core trauma disrupts and dis-organizes what was once neatly ordered and structured. What once made sense no longer does. Trauma simply means "wound." The essence of trauma is inescapable shock. Trauma renders one helpless, trapped, unable to move.
